The Republic of South Sudan NITAG was established through ministerial order on 21st January 2013. The secretariat and 2 core members attended a training organized by the SIVAC Initiative in Nairobi in August 2014 on NITAG functioning but due to external factors, the NITAG never started its operations. NITAG secretariat (coordinated by the EPI) undertook to propose a re-organisation of the NITAG in order to ensure the quick-start of activities and its optimal functioning. It requested SIVAC support in developing a concept note describing the NITAG structure, mandate and operations. This document served as the basis for issuance of the ministerial order to re-establish the NITAG as well as nominating members. The ministerial order was issued on January 22nd 2016 to re-establish the NITAG for the Republic of South Sudan and nominated 11 core and 10 non-core members.
