Abstract

The vaccination of persons with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency, and/or with asplenia, presents particularities which justify specific recommendations.

To take into account changes occurred since the publication of the first report in 2012, the French High Council of public health (HCSP) has updated its circumstance-specific immunisation recommendations for adults and children: HIV infection, solid organ transplantation, hematopoeitic stem cell transplantations, chemotherapy, asplenia or hyposplenia, auto-immune diseases or chronic inflammatory diseases, hereditary immune deficiencies.

These recommendations concern the vaccinations on the current Immunisation Schedule and do not address traveller immunisation.

Furthermore, the HCSP reminds that immunising these patients' close contacts, including healthcare staff, forms a major part of the protection.

These recommendations notably aim to improve the vaccination coverage in these populations who are at risk of severe infections, to harmonise practices and, ultimately, to reduce morbidity and mortality in these patients.
